The Kennecott Mines

Early Bonanza, Pt 5: Before and after comparison shots:

Photos showing the contrast between the original Bonanza complex (~1912-13) and the later one (1918 --)

The ore bunker has once again changed, the new barrack is in place, and the older one is gone. Up on the hill a small building which probably held transformers is gone. That is because the power no longer followed the ridge line, but instead headed underground through one of the Bonanza adits, then was strung over to the Jumbo claims by way of the 600-level cross-cut.  The power lines also headed to  the Mother Lode by means of the 800 cross-cut tunnel.   Click either image for a larger view.
