1983  Massacre at McCarthy

One of the most notorious aspects of McCarthy/Kennecott was the killing of seven people by Lou Hastings at the airfield near McCarthy in 1983. You will not find any reference to it anywhere else because the residents of McCarthy do not want to deal with it. The on-line account of it appears here.
